Darren Sharper: One man's trash is another's treasure
by jonathanvilma

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and that’s what happened with us getting Darren Sharper this offseason after he spent four years in Minnesota with our NFC Championship opponent, the Vikings.

He’s psyched to play the Vikings. It’s written all over his face. He’s already ready to go. He might be one of the guys we need to calm down once the game starts, temper his emotions so he can play football.

They probably felt like they could win games without him, and we felt like we could win games with him. That was really what happened. He became a free agent and we brought him in. I remember the dinner we had, it was myself, Gregg Williams and him had, and all of us were talking, and we were talking about this situation, being at this point where we’re at right now.

We knew we needed a guy like Darren Sharper in the back end to get it done, and fortunately he’s been everything we asked for, everything I asked for, and then some. He’s proven himself, or I should say RE-PROVED himself this year and I’m excited to have him, so glad that we do.
